My Translation Workflow

Step 1: Download

Independent Video

Download the video via yt-dlp.

yt-dlp [URL]

Add --download-sections "*timescope" if needed.

Live Stream

Capture the live stream via Streamlink.

streamlink [URL] best -o livestream.ts

Step 2: Edit (If needed)

  1. Open the video in Avidemux (if it is a live stream, copy and paste the livestream.ts file first).
  2. Edit the video.
  3. Save it as an .mkv file.
  4. Upload the .mkv video.

Step 3: Transcribe

Open Subtitle Edit, drag the .mkv file in, and add the waveform (Settings → Waveform/spectrogram → Auto generate waveform when opening video).

  1. Go to Video → Audio to text (Whisper).
  2. Engine: Purfview’s Faster-Whisper-XXL
  3. Language: English
  4. Model: large-v3-turbo
  5. Click Generate.

Prepare the cover and fill in the video information while the transcription is generating.

Step 4: Translate

  1. Adjust the subtitle timecodes.
  2. Use Antigravity to translate the English subtitles into Chinese.

Task

Translate the provided English .srt subtitles into Chinese, and create only the new translated .srt file.

Terminology Rules

Proper Nouns

  • Locations: Translate city and country names into Chinese (e.g., Astana → 阿斯塔纳, Budapest → 布达佩斯).
  • Events & Organizations: Keep names in English (e.g., Major, IEM, BLAST, CAC).
  • Players & Teams: Keep IDs and team names in English. Ensure correct casing (e.g., MOUZ, FaZe, NaVi, G2, NertZ, m0NESY, huNter-).
  • Maps: Keep map names in English (e.g., Dust2, Ancient, Cache).

Hardcore Esports Jargon

  • General: Tier 1 → T1, playoffs → 淘汰赛, bootcamp → 集训, T-side → T 方, CT-side → CT 方, player → 选手, team → 队伍, overtime match → 加时, second map → 图二, officials → 正赛, LAN → 线下.
  • Tactical: peek → peek, entry kill → 首杀, faking → 假打, whiff → 空枪, die uselessly → 白给, default → 默认, force buy → 强起, eco → 经济局.
  • Map Spots: Use community-standard terms (e.g., long → A 大, banana → 香蕉道, pit → 大坑).
  • Prohibited Terms: Strictly forbid the use of “球员,” “球队,” and “球赛.”

Linguistic Style

  • Extreme Conciseness: Strip away redundant fillers such as “I think,” “You know,” “I mean,” and “Actually” to ensure the subtitles are punchy and easy to read during fast-paced dialogue.
  • Dialogue Flow: Match the reading habits of the Chinese esports community — informal, direct, and slightly humorous.
  • Punctuation:
    • Use Chinese corner quotation marks (「」) for all quoted speech.
    • Use Chinese full-width ellipses (……) for trailing thoughts.
    • Use commas for natural pauses in speech.
    • Do not add periods at the end of subtitle lines.

Formatting Rules

  • Spacing: Always include a single space between Chinese characters and English words or numbers. Do not add any spaces between two Chinses characters.
  • Single Line Requirement: Each subtitle entry must be a single line only. Do not use line breaks within a subtitle block.
  • Timestamps: Do not modify original timestamps.
  1. Open the new .srt file in Subtitle Edit, and fix any errors.
  2. Upload the .srt file.

Step 5: Publish

  1. Double-check the video, subtitles, title, tags, and description, etc.
  2. Click Publish.
